EcoBuilding
According to many surveys made in various countries, the energy consumed in buildings represents a significant part (up to 50% in some countries) of the energy consumed by any person. As a consequence, many countries have developed financial incentives and legislations to reduce the energy consumption of buildings. |

(1) Thermal solar collectors (www.energie-solaire.com)
Solar heating and hot water supply Granit SA is producing, since 1973, thermal solar collectors to heat domestic water and to contribute to the heating of houses and large buildings. These high-quality stainless steel collectors can be used under glass frames in a conventional way or unglazed, thanks to the exceptionally high efficiency of their selective coating. |

(3) Dust-free air conditioning (www.energie-solaire.com)
The concept of room temperature conditioning with radiant panels at low temperature gradient has been developed and installed in several buildings. The panels built by Energie Solaire SA are placed below the ceilings of the rooms; cold or hot water is circulated inside the panels thus producing temperature conditioning by soft thermal radiation. This system is totally hygienic and requires less energy than the classical air conditioning systems. This system is already sold in some European countries and a promotional program is being developed for middle-east countries. |

(4) Natural fiber insulation boards
Insulating grass panels: a competitive price and a capture of about 5 tons CO2 per hectare

Granit SA has financed the development of a new patented process to produce insulation board for the building industry made out of natural fibers separated from grass or other plants. The process has been developed by the company Biomass Process Solutions (BPS) which is owned in majority by Granit. The full industrial design of the production line is completed and several full scale production facilities are in the planning phase. Granit intends to finance some of these production facilities and to market these insulation boards in parallel of the promotion of solar panel collectors. |
The new insulation board named Gramitherm®
is available in various densities and structures (see Technical Sheet pdf). It can be used for roof, wall and floor insulations. Its thermal and sound insulation characteristics are comparable to existing insulation boards made out of mineral materials available on the market. Moreover, thanks to its soft fiber structure, it can be used without hand and mouth protections. |
