The Group Strategy
The strategic need to reduce the impacts on the environment of all our activities is recognized by most governments worldwide and by the majority of the population of developed countries. Major investments will be required during the next decades in the fields of:
- Clean water production
- Solid and liquid waste treatment and recycling
- Soil, water and air depollution
- renewable energy production
The market for activities linked to the environment is evaluated at 500 billion euros in 2010 (OCDE).

Granit has been active in this market for more than 30 years as an engineering and consultant group. In order to respond to the fast growing markets' needs, Granit has decided to change its strategy to become an industrial operator in the segments of:
- Solid waste management: municipal waste sorting and recycling, waste plastic depolymerisation to produce hydrocarbon fuel (Granit patent).
- Organic liquid sludge processing: Granit process of wet oxidation for industrial effluents and municipal water treatment sludge.
- Reducing energy consumption of buildings: supply of thermal solar collector assembled as "solar roofs" (Energie Solaire SA) and supply of natural insulation boards made from vegetable fibers (Biomass Process Solutions).
- Proposing specific solutions to local challenges (Engineering & Projects) through the International network of Green Regions (International Federation of Green Regions) and Green Centers for the local promotion of projects and operations, in which Granit has specific know-hows and efficient procedures.
Granit recognizes also that most of the environmental challenges require local approaches with strong links to the public authorities.
Granit has therefore developed a unique promotional tool to reach local authorities and decision-makers, and to rapidly implement its technologies in new countries. The promotional tool is based on:
- The International Federation of Green Regions, created in June 2007 in Lausanne
- The network of Green Centers (www.tecorbe.com)
- The SESEC symposiums (www.sesec.org)
